URGENT AFRICA AT WORK
Urgent Africa in partnership with villages is working
to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for African children. Our
work is guided by a Sustainable Village Vision that incorporates
education, HIV prevention, integrative health care, infrastructure
development, cultural preservation, empowerment programs and economic
development.
The Sustainable Village Vision serves as a guide to develop and
implement appropriate solutions to community challenges that will
serve as a model for replication in other regions in Africa.
Urgent Africa Principles
| Values |
Description |
| Whole systems approach |
Addressing HIV/AIDS holistically and not as an isolated
health problem, separate from other key interrelated issues
such as poverty and lack of access to education |
| Sustainability |
All forms of assistance and program structures are
culturally relevant and designed to feed back into the village
to create long term self sufficiency |
| Partnership |
All programs are in complete partnership and consensus with
the village goals and values. UA will only work with Community
Based Organizations (CBO) from villages that request our
assistance |
| Participation |
The programs build upon the existing cultural, social and
economic context by engaging local people in all levels of
program development, implementation and assessment |
| Cross cultural exchange |
Provide people the opportunity to have life enhancing
experiences through cross cultural collaboration |
